'Secunderabad Cantonment Board' yet to get Rs 450 Crores from LMA

The annual charges towards civic services rendered by the Board to Army establishments is fixed at Rs 50 crore.

Hyderabad: Local Military Authorities (LMA) owe around Rs 450 crores to Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) as service charges. Though the annual charges towards civic services rendered by the Board to Army establishments is fixed at Rs 50 crore, since more than nine years, the Board has been receiving less than 10 per cent of the cost incurred .

The Cantonment Board provides services on roads, its maintenance, street lights, garbage collection etc. to the Army quarters, units including its canteens, solider memorial and club houses.

The Board authorities said that the money released by the Ministry of Defence is transferred to the Local Military Authorities and after deduction, the Board is paid the left over of the funds.

The SCB houses not only the Defence residence but training ground, Defence schools and colleges, shooting ranges, weapon manufacturing units, Telangana and Andhra Sub area, prayer grounds and more.
