Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has asked the roads and buildings department to hand over at least 4,000 km of state highways to private parties for maintenance on a pilot basis for five years. The remaining highways can also be given to private parties at a later stage, he said.
Mr Naidu said development of roads would be priority of the government on the lines of irrigation projects and asked the department concerned to complete the projects on time.
The CM was reviewing the progress of ongoing projects by the department at a meeting in Undavalli on Saturday.
