ChaiNa' splits over JEE ranks

The Narayana Group insists ChaiNa will exist until 2019, and it has every right to claim the ranks secured by this batch until then.

Hyderabad: A battle between two major corporate colleges groups, Narayana and Sri Chaitanya, over which group had produced the most Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) high rankers has led to an abrupt abolition of their joint-venture project, ChaiNa, with both groups threatening legal action against each other.

The groups, arch rivals since the 1990s, joined hands in 2012 by setting up ChaiNa, to train students for Eamcet, IITs and other national-level engineering and medical entrance exams.

However, following the recent announcement of JEE Main results, a split between the groups became apparent as the Sri Chaitanya group alleged that the Narayana Group had misled parents by claiming the top-scoring students in the ChiNA batch were theirs, and announced that their tie-up with Narayana no longer exists. However, the Narayana Group insists ChaiNa will exist until 2019, and it has every right to claim the ranks secured by this batch until then.

Sri Chaitanya chairman B.S. Rao and academic director Sushma have accused Narayana of claiming the top ranks as theirs, and said Bhogi Suraj Krishna, this year's JEE Main topper, is a Sri Chaitanya student sent to the ChaiNa batch.
