Andhra Pradesh state lag behind in GST collection
Both Telangana and AP have become eligible for compensation from the Centre for the drop in GST collections.
Hyderabad: While GST collection in the country has set a record and crossed the Rs 1 lakh-crore mark for the first time in April, both Telugu states have witnessed a shortfall in collections during the same period.
Both Telangana and AP have become eligible for compensation from the Centre for the drop in GST collections. Following the benchmark prescribed by the Centre on GST collections for every state, Telangana's target collection was Rs 1,989 crore and AP’s Rs 1,660 crore for April. However, only Rs 1,878 crore was realised in Telangana, while AP collected Rs 1,638 crore.
The Centre compensates states if they fall below this benchmark, taking into account the average of GST collections every two months.
