Devi's relatives fight with cops at scene of accident

The police also started investigating reports that a third person was present at the time of the accident.

Hyderabad: Tension gripped Jubilee Hills when relatives of Devi Reddy entered into an argument with the police, when the police was reconstructing the crime scene on Thursday.

After recording Bharath Simha Reddy’s statement on Wednesday, the police recreated the accident at the spot on Thursday. The police also started investigating reports that a third person was present at the time of the accident. CCTV footages taken from the car’s route and the call data records of Bharath and Devi are being analysed.

DCP A. Venkateswar Rao said the probe team is collecting technical evidence. The autopsy report of Divya said that she died of multiple injuries. Police identified four other persons including Devi’s friend Sonali and three other men who went along with them to the party on Saturday night.

“Apart from Bharath Simha Reddy there is one more person involved. The police is trying to save him,” Devi’s father Niranjan Reddy said. Devi’s sister alleged that Bharath’s parents were informed immediately after the accident, but they were not. “The car brought for reconstruction of the mishap was more damaged.

Although it is the same vehicle this was done to establish that it was an accident,” she said. According to sources as per call data records, after the other four friends left the pub, Devi and Bharath started in Bharath's car at around 3 am and reached the mishap spot in 12 minutes. Enroute they halted for five minutes, and police could trace only the location of the mobile phones of Devi and Bharath.
