Searches at Ramesh’s house yield nothing
Kadapa: With less than a week to go for the elections, 40 policemen searched the houses of the Telugu Desam MP C.M. Ramesh and his neighbours. This marks yet another action against a Telugu Desam leader in the run-up to the elections.
The cops searched Mr Ramesh’s house along with other houses in the neighbourhood but did not find anything.
While the searches were in progress, senior TD leaders came to the village to visit the MP and his family.
The team comprised the Yerraguntla sub-inspector Mr Govinda Reddy, local police personnel, and those from the 11th Battalion.
Later in his conversation with reporters, Mr Ramesh alleged that it was part of a conspiracy hatched by the YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He said, “They entered the house and searched all the rooms inside out — every cupboard and locker in every room. The search went on for almost an hour. In the meantime, I got in touch with the media and asked the cops to continue their search in the presence of the media. However, the police refused.”
He alleged that the EC had ordered the search upon being persuaded by YSRC president Jagan Mohan Reddy.
