Vijayawada: TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu sat on a dharna at Dr Ambedkar statue near Tummalapalli Kalaskhetram here, protesting against IT raids on TD contestants and leaders by the Modi government.
This was followed by similar dharnas in all districts and mandals in the state where party leaders and workers began protests near Ambedkar statues in their respective places.
Addressing the dharna in Vijayawada, Mr Naidu said, “I’m warning the PM that if continues like this, he will have to pay a heavy price. We are fighting to save democracy and India. Who are you? You are the outgoing Prime Minister. I request the officers not to listen to him. If you do, you will also face serious consequences.”
The Andhra Pradesh CM added that the BJP wants to make political mileage by conducting raids on their leaders. He alleged that the IT raids were being conducted at the behest of the YSRC as both Modi and Jagan were hand in glove. He further stated that Jagan was hatching plans, sitting in Hyderabad.
He warned that the TD was not going to succumb to pressures and political revenge of the Modi government.
