Kerala: No headway in Mithila Mohan case
Kochi: Crime Branch has submitted before Kerala High Court that investigation in Mithila Mohan murder case is still continuing with a focus on Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to trace the remaining suspects.
Last year police had submitted that a detailed investigation should be conducted in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for two absconding accused, while in 2014 police suspected Sri Lankans behind the murder. Mohan, an abkari contractor, was killed at his residence in Palarivattom by unidentified persons on April 6, 2006.
Police submitted that Santhosh Kumar alias Kannan, the first accused, was arrested and is currently out on bail. The second accused Pandiyan is no more, and the third accused Mathivanan and fourth accused Uppali are to be located.
A gun and a vehicle involved in the crime are also to be seized. On April 5, around 8.50 pm, two persons reached Vennala, and one of them trespassed into the house and fired at him.
Later handed over the promised money - Rs 10 lakh to the other two accused persons in Coimbatore. "Earnest and sincere efforts are being continued to locate the remaining two accused and seizure of weapons," said PK Madhu, superintendent of police, CBID, Ernakulam.
The investigation team interrogated Sirumani, wife of second accused late Dindigal Pandyan and one Sambath, an active member of his group. The caricature of Mathivanan and Uppali had shown to them, but they were not identified. They also stated that nobody in Pandian's group has resemblance with the caricature.
In 2016, the probe team interrogated a murder convict namely Mathivanan involved at Central Jail, Coimbatore, and confirmed that he was not among those wanted.
