Chennai: A tribute to late Chandrahasan, elder brother of Kamal Hassan, was held by the actor’s family in the city on Wednesday.
Chandrahasan was a pillar of support to Kamal from the initial stages of his career, remarked many who attended the event. Rajinikanth became nostalgic about his association with Chandrahasan and mentioned that he was a father figure to Kamal.
“I have met Chandrahasan sir a few times. He was everything to Kamal. Having been in the industry for a long, Kamal does not have great assets in life compared to newcomers. If at all he has something today, that is because of Chandrahasan. Now, he is no more. I am really concerned about how Kamal is going to protect and save whatever he has. Now, the onus lies on yet another father figure and his elder brother Charuhassan,” he said.
“Chandrahasan sir was soft natured and polite, whereas Kamal tells anything in a commanding manner. And, little you know about Kamal’s fierce nature. I have seen the angry side of him. That’s why I am always careful with him (smiles),” the actor said.
On his part Kamal said, “Half of myself has gone with my brother. Without him, I am nobody. He taught me discipline. He was a true example of a ‘brother”.
Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan was present at the event. Others present include Charuhaasan , Suhasini, Anu Hassan, Akshara, Kamal’s sister and Nalini.
