Chennai: The DMK on Wednesday alleged that both the factions of AIADMK headed by V.K. Sasikala and former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam are distributing money to voters.
In a complaint to the Election Commission, DMK organising secretary R.S. Bharathi said, “As and when we noticed such illegal distribution of money by AIADMK (Amma) candidate T.T.V. Dinakaran’s supporters, we caught them red-handed and informed police and the observer including flying squad. Though in some places, the observer and flying squad reached, no effective action was taken.”
Members of AIADMK Puratchi Thalaivi Amma group too have urged the EC to contain the widespread distribution of cash for votes in the R.K. Nagar Assembly constituency.
Rajya Sabha MP Maitreyan and former state minister K.P. Munusamy, who petitioned the Chief Electoral Officer on Wednesday claimed each voter has been given Rs 4,000.
