Girl killed after wall falls due to rains

Two other children escaped unhurt.

KARIMNAGAR: Following rains and stiff winds, a nine-year-old girl died on the spot when a neighbour’s wall fell on her at Mallaipalli, a hamlet of Mupputhota village in Eliged mandal on Tuesday. Two other children escaped unhurt.

The deceased was Chanda Ashwini, a native of Samanapalli village in Dharmaram. Her father Mr Pochamallaiah is a daily-wage earner. Ashwini was at her grandmother’s place, enjoying the rains at the time of the incident. Police booked a case following a complaint from her grandparents.

In another incident, a 22-year-old daily-wager, Duddula Naresh, died after being struck by lightning at his residence at Doonur village in Dharmapuri on Monday night. He had come home from Mumbai to organize his sister’s wedding slated for April 24. A bull too was killed by lightning at a field at Elabotharam village in Karimnagar mandal.
