SHE teams organise ‘Embrace Equality’ run

Event held to commemorate International Women\'s Day

HYDERABAD: In a run-up to International Women’s Day, Hyderabad SHE Teams organised an ‘Embrace Equity’ run from People’s Plaza here on Monday.

Around 5,000 women from various walks of life participated in the run that was held over 2km and 5 km distances.

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari flagged off the run along with DGP Anjani Kumar and city police commissioner C.V. Anand.

The pleasant breeze sweeping across Tank Bund and the Zumba dance backed by 'women only' band added to the attraction.

Addressing the crowd, Santhi Kumari said, “SHE Teams stand foremost in terms of ensuring the safety of women. Explore all opportunities out there.”

Retracing the journey and services of SHE Teams, DGP Anjani Kumar said “Hyderabad is the safest city for women in the country.”

Anand assured that safety of women remains top priority. He lauded the services of the women protection squad and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the officers in making the event a grand success.

The prize winners were later given away awards. Additional DG (women safety) Shikha Goel and senior police officers attended the event.
