Hyderabad: Tankers told to avoid trips during peak hours

Hyderabad: Telangana state traffic police has asked private tankers not to pile on city roads during school hours in busy zones and to reduce trips during peak hours.

Additional Commissioner of Police, city traffic, Anil Kumar, while addressing the owners of private water tankers, said, “More than 15-year-old vehicles/tankers should not move on the roads of the city. If found guilty, they will be handed over to the Road Transport Authority for further action.”

Mr Kumar also asked them to install speed locks in their vehicles.

The tankers have also been asked to undergo fitness check at RTO and always carry fitness certificates.

The owners have also been warned of hiring unskilled or unauthorised drivers.

According to the police, many water tankers don’t have proper permission.

In this regard, a letter will be sent to the revenue and waterworks authorities.
