Chennai: Two men were arrested with 1,152 illegal liquor bottles in Kanchipuram on Tuesday.
According to police, the incident occurred near Madhurantakam, in Kanchipuram district, where Acharapakkam police intercepted a van while conducting regular checks and seized 1,152 liquor bottles from it.
The police had received a tip-off that liquor bottles were smuggled into Pondicherry from a different state and were prepared to intercept them. While the vehicle was passing Jallimedu, the vehicle was stopped and upon checking the bottles were found and seized. Pratham, the driver of the vehicle, and Manikumar, from Tirukalukundram were arrested and the 1,152 bottles and the car were seized.
Further investigations are now on.
