Secunderabad Cantonment Board needs Centre's nod for delimitation

However, SCB top brass is yet to get the Centre's nod to take up the exercise.

Hyderabad: Delimitation of wards in Secunderabad Cantonment Board would be possible only if a considerable numbers of voters were deleted in a few wards. However, SCB top brass is yet to get the Centre’s nod to take up the exercise. The Cantonment administration have decided to deprive voting rights (for board elections) to people who have encroached upon the defence and government lands in eight wards. Data collection is on and is expected to be completed in the next few weeks.

CEO of SCB S.V.R. Chandrashekar said decision on delimitation would have to be taken by the Union government only. “We have to write to the Centre on this. However, a clear picture of number of voters left will be known only after completion of the deletion drive. “We have to see how many voters are left in each ward and then have to take a call on the matter,” he said.
