Mysuru: BJP vice-president and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa warned of state-wide protests in case Chief Minister Siddaramaiah fails to apologise for police excesses while dealing with farmers who were demanding supply of adequate water on Thursday.
Describing police action as “inhuman,” he told the media here on Saturday: “Siddaramaiah’s government is anti-farmer. I condemn the inhuman assault by police on farmers. He (Mr Siddaramaiah) should apologize to people or the state will be rocked by a major law and order problem.”
The Chief Minister has failed to come up with an action plan for supply of drinking water, and has neglected rural development. He should answer why ex-gratia amount has not been distributed to the kin of farmers who committed suicide across the states, he added.
Mr Yeddyurappa said the Chief Minister should set his house in order rather than level allegations against other politicians as half the number of his cabinet colleagues and legislators were not with the leader.
Breaking his silence on Mr Siddaramaiah’s luxe wristwatch, Mr Yeddyurappa said, “it has been proved that the watch is a smuggled item. There is no authentic document related to it. Hence, he has confessed and handed it over to the chief secretary. We will take up a legal battle with regard to the wristwatch. The CBI must inquire into this watch issue,” he added.
