Warangal: Greater Warangal is all set to decide its first civic body. The fate of 398 candidates in fray will be decided by 6,44,098 voters of which 3,20,814 are women and 3,23,165 are men. The district administration has made all the necessary arrangements for the polling that is going to take place in 653 polling booths.

GWMC commissioner and returning officer Sarfaraz Ahmed and his officials were busy distributing equipment to the polling officials at the Enumamula market yard on Saturday. Mr Ahmed said 3,630 personnel were pressed into service for polling duty. A total of 660 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used and an additional 116 EVMs will be kept ready in case of emergency.

“We have made all arrangements for the voters. There will be two drums of drinking water at every polling station and one person will be there to serve water. Our water tankers will be doing the rounds in all areas to refill the water drums if needed,” he said.

Of all the 58 divisions, the sixth division has the highest number of candidates. There are 12 candidates in fray from this division. 17, 24 and 29 divisions have the least number of candidates with just three in each of these wards.
