Gowri Amma enters AKG Centre, seeks five seats

The CPM leadership heard the veteran leader in detail but didn't give any assurance on the allotment of seats.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K R Gowri Amma stepped into AKG Centre after 22 years to demand five seats for her fledgling party JSS for the forth coming Assembly polls.

The veteran leader met CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and placed the demand for five seats; Aroor, Cherthala, Muvatupuzha, Varkala and Eravipuram. The CPM leadership heard the veteran leader in detail but didn’t give any assurance on the allotment of seats.

Later Gowriamma told mediapersons that CPM had assured her to look into JSS demand and get back soon. Apart from Kodiyeri, CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan and LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan also took part in the discussions.

Though Gowriamma had almost planned to merge her JSS with the CPM, the move had to be dropped at the last stage following stiff opposition from a section of leaders of her party .

Gowri Amma had planned to CPM on P Krishna Pillai martyrdom day on August 19 after a gap of 21 years. There were plans to induct the 97 year old leader into state committee as special invitee in view of the age bar. It may be recalled Gowri Amma who was member of CPM state secretariat, was demoted to state committee owing to serious differences with the leadership.
