Solar scam: Why no action if Saritha lied, asks court
Thrissur: The Vigilance special court here has put the government in the dock again by asking why the authorities had not acted against solar scam-accused Saritha S. Nair if she had been raising false allegations against the political leaders and others.
Judge S.S. Vassan on Friday quoted a proverb saying that if a woman is hell-bent on doing something, even Brahma could not stop her.
“But, Siva can open his third eye” he said. His comment came after Mr A.S. Shyam Kumar, a member of the Lawyers’ Congress, filed a petition claiming a conspiracy behind the plaint submitted before the court by an activist alleging that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Power Minister Aryadan Muhammed had accepted bribes from Saritha.
The court will hear the petition on Monday. The petitioner said that in an interview given to a national magazine and a Malayalam news channel, Saritha had said that CPM leader E.P. Jayarajan had approached her offering Rs 10 crore to make false allegations against the CM in connection with the solar scam.
Activist P.D. Joseph is the first respondent in the petition. He had filed a case in the court on January 28 on the basis of the charge raised by Saritha before the solar judicial inquiry commission that the CM and the power minister were bribed by her. Saritha and Mr Jayarajan are the second and the third respondents respectively.
Mr Kumar said that the court itself could conduct an inquiry into the alleged conspiracy in his petition
