Mayor V K Prashant promises more amenities to techies
Thiruvananthapuram: Mayor V.K. Prashant has promised to solve the problems faced by Technopark professionals, including street dog menace and lack of street lights.
The street lights will be repaired by March, and a dog squad will be dispatched this week itself, he told them at a “Meet the Mayor” interaction organised by Pratidhwani, a group of professionals at Technopark.
He promised to provide new amenities, including a prepaid counter and a comfort station at Kazhakkoottam. For the comfort station, '2 lakh was promised by Technopark CEO Gireesh Babu.
The Karyavattom-Kazhakkoottam road which passes via Technopark back gate will be developed into a model road, the mayor said. In addition, the road leading from the KSEB substation to Nila building will be renovated, he said.
When the techies sought more transport facilities, the mayor agreed to discuss the matter with KSRTC officials.
A bus bay was mooted at Kazhakkottam, like the one functioning in Kochi. The foundation stone for a new bus terminal at Kazhakkottam will be laid on February 10.
The techies also urged the provision for a creche and children’s park. “While the mayor agreed to take the children’s park idea forward, there was no consensus on the kind of creche needed,” said Pratidhwani secretary Rajeev Krishnan.
The mayor asked the techies to develop a new software that improves the connection between people and the corporation.
Mr Girish Babu, G-Tech secretary Anoop Ambika and Technopark Business Development Manager Vasanth Varada were present among others.
