IAS officer to follow up on MoUs: Siddaramaiah

The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction about the outcome of the investors' meet.

Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that a senior IAS officer will be appointed to follow up the proceedings of Invest Karnataka 2016, and to ensure that all the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the event materialise in the next three months.

He disclosed this to reporters on his arrival at a helipad in Nanjangud taluk Suttur on Friday, to inaugurate the six-day Suttur Jathra Mahot sav held in memory of Adi Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara Shivayogi.

The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction about the outcome of the investors’ meet. “The response exceeded our expectations. It has brought in more than Rs 3.08 lakh crore of investment to the State. As many as 123 MoUs have been signed and several investors have shown expression of interest. Big industrialists and business houses like Ratan Tata, Narayana Murthy, Azim Premji, Anil Ambani and others participated,” he said.

Siddaramaiah said the state was always a preferred destination for investment. “We are getting investments in various sectors, including tourism, aerospace, power, defence, IT and BT, food processing, among others. Karnataka has always been ahead in the industrial sector right from the era of Sri Nalwadi Krishanaraja Wadiyar. And ever since our Government came to power, we have created more conducive atmosphere to the investors,” he said.

He, however, said that he does not want investors to concentrate only in Bengaluru, but also invest in the state’s backward regions.
