DMDK pins hopes on Kanchi meet
Chennai: Even as the opposition parties DMK, BJP and PWF are wooing it to join their alliance, a meeting of DMDK district secretaries was held here to take stock of the political situation and look into preparations for the party’s February 20 conference in Kancheepuram.
“We did not discuss any thing about the alliance for the ensuing state assembly polls. Party's general council has authorised the party chief Vijayakanth to take an appropriate decision. He will take a decision after hearing the views of cadres in the conference to be held in Kancheepuram,” said a senior DMDK leader. He added that district secretary meeting was chaired by party's headquarters office bearers and Mr Vijayakanth who visited the party's headquarter did not attend the meeting.
DMDK sources said that the meeting was held to take stock of the preparation for the conference. The leader noted the party has already started an online campaign for the conference and released posters highlighting various issues affecting the public.
Meanwhile, DMDK commenced receiving application from MLA aspirants for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Assembly on Friday and it will go on till February 14.
The aspirants have to pay Rs 5,000 filing the application for general constituencies and Rs 2,500 for reserved seats.
