Chennai: A 10-year-old city student emerged as the national winner of the Google India’s- Code to Learn Contest 2015, in which thousands of youngsters participated from all over India. Shrikrishna Madhusudhanan, Class V student in BVM Global, Perungudi, was among the three national winners in the Class 5 & 6 category.
With a confidence belying his age, Shrikrishna explains the technological details of his programme in Robotics that bagged him the prize. “The game I innovated has more than a single player. Also, I recorded my voice to set instructions,” he said.
From apt picturisation to unique backgrounds, the programme stands out from those of the rest of the students. More than 50 students participated from our school, Debjani Ghosh, the Principal, said.
Shrikrishna’s quest for learning Robotics was heightened after the contest as he is creating a soccer game from a software called Scratch, which fetched him the award. Explaining the importance of the software, his Robotics teacher, P. Kalpana said that it has automatic commands, which makes its use interesting to students.
Linking logical ideas in robotic technology is good. This helps children to bring out their imaginary skills. Every school should adopt robotics classes, said Srikrishna’s mother Shanthini.
