Chennai: Tokens will be distributed from Sunday at the doorsteps of beneficiaries eligible for receiving the Pongal Gift hamper comprising a kg of raw rice, a kg of sugar and one length of sugarcane at ration shops from January 10 to 13.
An official press release said the distribution of the gift hamper, announced by Chief Minister M K Stalin on January
Beneficiaries have been asked not to crowd the ration shops that would hand over the gifts at the time and date specified in the token.
Apart from the gift hamper, family cardholders who are neither income tax payees nor employees of Union and State governments and public sector undertakings would be paid Rs 1000 cash at the ration shops.
