Wakf Board seeks nod to appoint 50 staffers

Board Chairman Mohd Saleem said addressing the media that though there was a need of more than 300 employees.

HYDERABAD: Wakf Board members have objected to the selection of agenda items to be presented for discussion and insisted on focussing on important issues and demanded the revision of many items on the agenda.

The construction of a function hall on the open land adjacent to the Haj House building and leasing out of a bit of land in Karimnagar for mining, were the agenda items on which the Board members did not agree.

The Board resolved on Saturday to send a proposal to the government seeking its consent for the appointment of at least 50 employees as it was incapable of functioning properly due to a shortage of staff.

Board Chairman Mohd Saleem said addressing the media that though there was a need of more than 300 employees, but the finance department had been refusing the proposals sent by the Board. This had led to the members seeking permission from the government for the appointment of 50 employees as an initial move.
