Hyderabad: Officials ignore plaint on illegal constructions
HYDERABAD: Illegal constructions are mushrooming in the outskirts of the city which the authorities continue to ignore. Court orders to curtail such constructions have failed to evoke any action. Residents allege that a nexus between political leaders and the collectorate authorities are responsible for this.
Authorities at Medchal-Malkajgiri expressed mixed reactions to the issue. While one official claimed that eviction orders had been issued, others said they were clueless about the issue.
According to Green Fields Plot Owners Association, influential political leaders were hand in glove with the Medchal-Malkajgiri district authorities and had created fake documents for government land in survey no 378 of Kanajiguda, Dammai-guda in Alwal Mandal. The illegal constructions have come up in plot numbers 500,501 and 502 in the same survey number.
Mr S. Chandrasekhar, president, Green Fields Plot Owners Association, said that even though several representations had been given to the district authorities regarding illegal occupation of land and unauthorised construction in the survey number 378 in Kanajiguda, the officials did not take any action against the encroachers fearing local political leaders. He said citing this the association had filed petitions in the High Court. The court instructed the authorities to stop the illegal construction on the land and asked the adjacent building owner to confine his construction according to his layout plan and not deviate from the plan.
Mr Chandrasekhar said that even though two years had passed, the district authorities were yet to implement the court order.
He said despite several representations neither the mandal revenue officer nor the joint collector have been initiating action against the encroachers.
When this newspaper contacted Alwal mandal revenue officer M. Sarala, she said she had conducted a hearing and asked the association to submit a valid document to prove the ownership over the land. The officer said that it was under process and she had already issued an eviction order.
When contactedMr , D Srinivas Reddy, joint collector Medchal-Malkajgiri, said he was unaware of the issue and would look into it and resolve it at the earliest.
