Not status quo, rollback fee: Parents

Telangana Parents Association president N. Narayana said, “Status quo cannot give any relief.

Hyderabad: The government decision asking private schools to maintain the fee structure as per 2017-18 for the next academic year is being seen as a temporary relief for parents. This is because the parents have been demanding reduction in the current fee slab since last year’s is already high.

Telangana Parents Association president N. Narayana said, “Status quo cannot give any relief. Moreover, it is giving permission to schools which increased the fee for three years in 2017-18. The Prof. Tirupati Rao Committee was formed in the last week of March 2017 and many schools increased the fees by 30-40 per cent all of a sudden. A school in Tarnaka area increased fee of Class III to Rs 26,000 from Rs 19,000 in the third week of May when they were collecting first term fee.’’

“On November 27, 2017, at a meeting with school managements, the director of school education gave permission to enhance the fees for 2018-19 as usual, subject to condition that it should be adjusted on the basis of the Tirupati commission outcome. The memo of status quo is just another twist,” he said.

City parent Chandrajeet Singh said, “This is only a temporary relief as there has already been fee hikes for 2018-19. The schools now have to roll back their hike to what it was in 2017-18.”
