Sankranti fete to begin at Srisailam on Janaury 11
Kurnool: Srisailam Bramarambhika Mallikarjuna Swamy Brahmotsavam is all set to start from January 11. Brahmotsavams at Srisailam are held two times in a year--during Sankranti and Sivarathri, said Srisailam Executive Officer Bharat Gupta.
The Sankranti Utsavams will start from January 11 and concludes on January 17. The Utsavams are celebrated on the occasion of Makara Sankramanam regularly for seven days with Panchahnika Deeksha in the month of Pushyam (the 10th month of Indian Calendar) which falls in the month of January.
The festival begins with the Dhwajarohana and concludes with Dhwajavarohanam. In the celebrations various special rituals like Mandaparadhanalu, Mulamantra japan-ushtanalu, Rudrahomam, Pushpotsavam, Sayanotsavam and Panchavarana-rchanalu are performed as per custom.
The special feature of these celebrations is that on the Sankr-anti day the Kalyanoths-avam, such as the marriage of God Mallikarjuna Swamy performed with Goddess Parvathi Devi.
Temple executive officer Bharath Gupta said that they have made all arrangements to celebrate the festival in grand manner. Nearly 5 lakh pilgrims are expected to visit the temple during Brahmotsavams and the devotees would not be allowed to sparsa darsanam and all Arjitha Sevas would be cancelled, EO said. Celebrations starts with Yagasala along with Vighneswara puja on 9:15 AM on January 11.
