Poll code: Another case against Kaushik Reddy

Karimnagar: Another case was registered against the newly elected Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy of the BRS for violating the model code of conduct (MCC) during the counting of votes on December 3. The case was booked at the two-town police station in Karimnagar on Monday following a complaint by the head constable of the police station Bonala Anji Reddy.

The head constable alleged that when the police were discharging their duty at the counting centre set up at SRR Degree and PG College in Karimnagar city, Kaushik Reddy, along with his followers in large numbers, gathered at the centre and violated the poll code.

When the police officials tried to disperse the gathering as Section 144 was in force in and around the counting centre, Kaushik Reddy refused to clear the place and started assaulting the police personnel by abusing them using filthy language. He also threatened them with dire consequences, he alleged.

The police registered the case against the MLA and his followers under IPC Sections 188, 353, 290 and 506. Earlier, police had registered a case against Kaushik for his suicide threat to voters during election campaign.
