Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation would begin the Comprehensive Road Maintenance (CRM) on December 10.
Civic body commissioner D.S. Lokesh Kumar on Wednesday said that field work was going on to identify the major roads to take up the CRM works in the city for 709 kms roads. He said simultaneously work was also going on at parallel and link roads to ease the traffic load on the main roads by removing bottlenecks if necessary through land acquisition. Mr Lokesh said that the corporation currently sanctioned works worth Rs 280 crore.
Regarding the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS), Mr Kumar said that the civic body has been contacting around 28,000 applicants to come and get LRS clearance of their pending files at the earliest before December 31.
Efforts are being made to contact the LRS applicants by various means through phone, SMS, voice message etc. further instructed the officials concerned to be available at office between 3 pm to 5 pm to solve the problems in clearance of files.
"During the earlier drive around 26,000 LRS applications cleared. GHMC also identifying the open places to construct public toilets and also to take up tree plantation under greenery development programme and also restoration of parks which were neglected. Repairs to central medians and footpaths", the civic body commissioner said.
Commenting of various other developmental works, Mr Kumar said, proposals to construct one skywalk in each zone and also Foot over Bridges (FoBs) after getting necessary approvals.
Filling of pot holes are in progress, works is going on with specialized material for stretches 6 to 7 metres of road. latest machines is used for stretches ranging from 130 to 140 meters road length.
Within 2 to 3 months all damaged roads will be rectified. Waste to energy plant would be operational by January end, and it is proposed to use the total garbage self consumption for captive power generation.
