Kerala CM welcomes initiative for mediation

In a statement, the chief minister said many organisations had come forward saying that they were prepared to mediate between the warring factions.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijyan on Wednesday said the government will extend all support to the mediation move by heads of various churches in the state.

In a statement, the chief minister said many organisations had come forward saying that they were prepared to mediate between the warring factions. The government had earlier made efforts to find an amicable solution to the issue.

The Cabinet had constituted a ministerial sub-committee to resolve the issue and the panel is continuing its efforts in this direction. Discussions have been held on several occasions during this period. However, the non cooperation of one of the factions was coming in the way of an amicable solution to the problem.

Pinarayi said the initiative taken for mediation by Syro Malabar, Latin, Marthoma, Syro Malankara and CSI heads was highly appreciable. The chief minister congratulated them for coming forward to provide their assistance. He urged all sections of society to cooperate in a constructive manner.

The society and government hopes that the parties concerned will approach the issue in such a manner that the solution to the problem does not get prolonged further due to preconceived notions and stubborn stand, the chief minister said.
