Warangal​: Political meets cause pollution
Warangal​: Public meetings being held by the political parties and candidates in view of the December 7 elections have been causing pollution extensively in Warangal district.
The large number of vehicles being used to mobilise the public are causing air pollution while the biryani packets, water packets are adding to the solid waste. In addition, trees are being cut to make space for the public meetings and parking.
Over 50,000-70,000 people are attending every public meeting and the different packets distributed to them for consumption are leading to piling up of plastic.
In Mahabubabad, the plastic covers left at the venue of the public meeting in BC colony are creating a lot of trouble to the road users. The packets, light in weight, are flying on to the road and even obstructing the vicinity of the motorists.
The authorities should ask the people holding public meetings to clear the garbage as well, said Md Saleema, who runs an NGO, Nenusaitham.
