Nizamabad: Pink party sure of winning Banswada
Nizamabad: Banswada has become globally famous among the Telugu people after the release of blockbuster movie Fidaa in which the heroine is shown as a native of Banswada and the main story revolves around the town. In the ensuing election, Banswada Assembly constituency has turned into a hot topic in the political circles too.
Caretaker agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy represents Banswada and the TRS party is confident that its victory in Banswada will be a cakewalk for them. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy has been contesting for the seventh time from Banswada segment. Earlier, he was elected as the Banswada MLA in 1994, 1999, 2009, 2012 and 2014.
Banswada Assembly constituency is spread across Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts. Out of the six mandals, Kotagiri, Rudrur and Varni comes under Nizamabad district and Birkur, Nasrullabad, Banswada comes under Kamareddy district. Pocharam began his political career in the Congress party and worked for a long time in Telugu Desam. After entering into TRS, he was elevated to the Agriculture Minister’s post in the KCR Cabinet.
Considering his long political career, Pocharam has been giving utmost importance to Banswada Assembly constituency. Being a State Minister, he spent maximum time in the constituency and reached every village and habitation for various developmental programmes and welfare schemes. There is a sizeable population of Andhra settlers in Banswada Assembly constituency and Pocharam has given them due recognition in government activities.
In this context, TRS rank and file confidently said that they would retain Banswada Assembly constituency comfortably. Interestingly, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy’s sons—Surender Reddy (TRS leader), Bhaskar Reddy (Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society Chairman) assisted their father for strengthening the TRS base in Banswada Assembly constituency.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, caretaker minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said that the TRS Party will retain power in Telangana state with the visionary leadership of Caretaker Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao. “People have now experienced his (KCR’s) able leadership and will support him undoubtedly,” he explained. Pocharam said that Rythu Bandhu, 2BHK and other schemes got accolade in International and National venues.
Replying to a question, the Minister admitted that few TRS MLA candidates are facing resistance from the people, but it would be overcome with the image of KCR. He ruled out the charges of dictatorship and inaccessibility of TRS top leadership.
“CM is always busy with in-depth discussion of Telangana’s development and as per protocol, all persons easily met him,” the minister explained. Various surveys revealed that TRS and Mahakutami have 70:30, 60:40 votes’ percentage, he said.
