Madras HC denies advance bail to advocate

On filing of bail petition, the CJM was directed to consider and dispose of the same on the same day, the judge added.

Chennai: The Madras high court has dismissed an anticipatory bail petition filed by an advocate, who apprehended arrest in connection with a case registered against him for his face book post in which, he allegedly insulted and made derogatory remarks against Kongu Gounder women and also aimed at inciting and causing conflict between members of the Kongu Gounder community and Arunthathiyar-SC community.Concurring with the submissions of State Public Prosecutor A.Natarajan, Justice G.K.Ilanthiraiyan dismissed the anticipatory bail petition filed by advocate A.Swaminathan, practicing in Erode Bar and also head of the DMK district lawyers wing.“This court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner”. However, since the petitioner is a practicing advocate at the Erode Bar, he shall surrender before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Erode and file a petition for bail. On filing of bail petition, the CJM was directed to consider and dispose of the same on the same day, the judge added.
