Woman killed in wall collapse IN Krishnagiri

In the early hours of Monday, neighbours of Pattammal of Periyasamy Gounder street in Pudupettai of Krishnagiri heard a loud noise.

KRISHNAGIRI: The Krishnagiri district Fire and Rescue Services department staff recovered the body of a 60-year-old woman Pattammal who died in a wall collapse.

In the early hours of Monday, neighbours of Pattammal of Periyasamy Gounder street in Pudupettai of Krishnagiri heard a loud noise. They found Pattammal’s house locked from inside while others came out of their premises in a panic, following the noise.

As there was no response from the woman after repeated knocks, her neighbours called the police. Krishnagiri police officials climbed atop the house, removed a few tiles of the roof and found debris of building material in her house.

With this, they concluded that Pattammal was trapped under the debris and called fire and rescue department staff for the rescue operation.

Her body was recovered from the debris. Investigation revealed that the partition wall constructed to separate a hall into two small rooms had collapsed due to the dampness after the incessant rains in Krishnagiri. Police have registered case and further investigations are on into this monsoon rains related tragedy.
