NE monsoon: Low pressure to intensify in next 24 hrs

The RMC bulletin stated that sky condition is likely to remain generally cloudy in Chennai and neighbourhood areas.

Chennai: The low pressure over the Bay of Bengal has intensified as a low depression and is expected to turn into a deep depression subsequently in next 24 hours.

The system is to head towards north Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh by around December 6, bringing isolated rainfall in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, said the regional meteorological centre on Monday. However, cyclonic circulations are to weaken as they near northern parts of Tamil Nadu.

“Fishermen should refrain from venturing into “deep” parts of south Bay of Bengal. There were isolated rains in one or two places in Tamil Nadu, of which Aranmanaiputhur in Theni district recorded the highest of 6 cm of rainfall during the last 24 hours ending 8.30 on Monday,” said S Balachandran, director of Area Cyclone Warning Centre.

The RMC bulletin stated that sky condition is likely to remain generally cloudy in Chennai and neighbourhood areas. “Light rain likely to occur in some areas, while maximum and minimum temperature is likely to be around 29 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius in next 24 hours,” said an RMC bulletin.

Weather blogger Pradeep John denied the rumours of Chennai to be hit by a cyclone anytime soon and asked people to need not fear from the current weather system.
