Hyderabad: 2 men cheat amazon etailer, held
Hyderabad: Two persons were arrested for cheating online etailer Amazon of Rs 12.55 lakh by claiming that they had received empty packs or stones instead of the high-end products they had ordered online .
The Cyberabad Cyber Crime police identified the suspects as Simson Gunashekhar and John Arul Prakash of Sainikpuri. The suspects were schoolmates, Cyberabad DCP Janaki Sharmila said.
In 2014, Gunashekhar joined the Amazon as CSA, initially working for the USA process and later in the India process. While at work, he used to address mails from customers who complained that their product was missing or damaged or that they had received stone or soap insisted and asked for refunds.
Gunashekhar hatched a plan and drew in Prakash. He created a fake customer ID in October 2016 with his mobile number and booked an Apple iPhone 5s
“After receiving the product, Prakash complained to Amazon Customer Support stating that he had not received the product and sought refund,” Ms Sharmila said. The company refunded the amount.
Gunashekhar then created five accounts with his cousins and family members and played the same trick.
“He got the replacements and the refund also from the company,” the DCP said.
Between April and August 2017, Gunashekhar got three replacements and refund for one order, while Prakash got eight replacements and one refund from October last year till August.
