Channel kills' Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in tweet
New Delhi: A name mix-up in a tweet by a leading news channel that was reporting on the demise of Bollywood icon Shashi Kapoor created a mini-storm on social media on Monday.
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, one of the many celebrities who expressed their condolences, had spoken to the channel, which put out a tweet stating that the director had said ‘Shashi Tharoor is one producer who got parallel cinema on the front’.
While Twitterati commenced trolling the channel’s account over the blooper, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor himself tweeted, “We’re getting condolence calls in the office! Reports of my demise are, if not exaggerated, at least premature.”
To this, former Jammu & Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah, the National Conference’s working president, tweeted with a smiley emoji, “As much as some of these channels dislike me they’ve never killed me off. You have a unique distinction here Shashi (sic).”
