Another PMC Bank depositor dies

“It is a natural death and other details are not known yet,” said an officer from Mulund police.

Mumbai: In yet another death of a depositor of the scam-hit Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) Bank, 68-year-old Andrew Lobo passed away at his residence in Mulund.

The family claimed that he was facing difficulty in procuring money for his treatment owing to the curb on withdrawals from the bank mired in a Rs 4,355.46 crore scam.

Lobo had an account in the bank’s Mulund branch, where the family claimed he had many fixed deposits. The family added that he was undergoing treatment for age-related ailments and was finding it difficult to gather funds ever since the bank went down recently.

“It is a natural death and other details are not known yet,” said an officer from Mulund police.

“Two months ago, he developed a lung infection which needed regular medicines and visits to the doctor. His money was stuck in the bank, and we also have our accounts with PMC only,” his grandnephew Chris said.
