CHENNAI: The city police are investigating the death of a woman who was found naked and bruised on the Marina beach in the early hours of Sunday. Morning Marina walkers found the body of the woman with cuts on her face behind the government-run swimming pool by the beach and immediately alerted the Anna Square police.
Investigators are looking for surveillance videos that might show what happened around midnight near the Marina swimming pool area. They are also examining whether the death was due to foul play or it was a suicide.
The woman, said to be in her mid-30s, was lying naked when the morning walkers found her body. Her saree and her sacred thread (thali) were also found lying a few feet away from her. The police are questioning the local people to identify the woman.
On receiving the tip-off, Anna square police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Royapettah government hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered and a special team of police headed by Inspector Thangaraj is carrying out investigations, police sources said....
