Hyderabad: Apprehensive that aspirants who were not given tickets would stage protests at Gandhi Bhavan, and that ruling party workers may attack them, the TS Congress headquarters here has enhanced its security by recruiting about 20 members from a private security firm.
Congress leaders are most worried about the security of the seniors as they go out campaigning. Party treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy had approached Director Gen-eral of Police M. Mahen-dar Reddy last week, reque-sting enhancement of the security cover given to important leaders.
The private security personnel are on duty from the last four days. “Major activities are taking place in the party headquarters as many aspirants and leaders are visiting Gandhi Bhavan regularly. Keeping this in mind, we have enhanced security with private guards. The police is also deploying their men in front of Gandhi Bhavan,” said an office bearer from the Congress.
The Congress leaders are demanding additional security in view of the elections. Security was enhanced to Revanth Reddy with 4+4 personnel from Telangana State Special Police (TSSP) after he complained that he was facing a threat to his life.
Congress leaders are expecting the enhancement of security for the other important leaders of the party. The state party headquarters seen prote-sts by spurned aspirants during previous elections, which made the leadership opt for private security....
