TRS defeat is real Diwali, says Smriti Irani
Hyderabad: Union minister Smriti Irani on Sunday said the defeat of the TRS would be the real Diwali for the people of the state. She criticised the government for not implementing ‘Modicare’, the Centre’s health insurance scheme.
Ms Irani was speaking at a party meeting at Amberpet in Hyderabad on Sunday. She started her brief speech, which lasted less than 10 minutes, in Telugu, which cheered up the party workers.
She said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started a wonderful scheme for the health of the poor called Ayushman Bharat, which would give a health cover of '5 lakh for poor families. Though the entire country appreciated the scheme, the Telangana government has not implemented it. When I asked about it, I learnt that many such Central schemes are not being implemented. The question arises what kind of fear does KCR and the TRS have?”
She said she was told that the TRS government feared that Mr Modi would get more popularity if Central schemes were implemented. “They should remember that Mr Modi is already popular and that’s why he became Prime Minister,” she said.
“TRS leaders are thinking that family rule is democracy. The whole state is under the control of one family. The liberation day of Telangana will be on December 7. The defeat of TRS is a real festival and Diwali to the people of Telangana,” she said.
