Pensioners in five states raise demands

Earlier the retired employees used to get 50 per cent of the last basic pay along with the dearness allowence.

Hyderabad: The Contributory Pension Scheme Employees (CPSE) of five states that are going to polls Telangana, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chattisgarh — have passed a resolution to vote for only those parties which promise to implement the old pension scheme in the upcoming elections.

The Telangana State Contributory Pension Scheme Employees Union met in Hyderabad on Sunday to discuss the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS). The union has decided to conduct awareness campaigns in all five states and asked CPSE employees to attend a rally being organised in New Delhi on November 26.

Mr G. Sthita Pragna, principal secretary of the NMOPS said, “While the social security pension is being increased before every election, the pension for retired employees is being slashed. Earlier the retired employees used to get 50 per cent of the last basic pay along with the dearness allowence.”
