Mullappally sees Sabari stir as LDF's failure
Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran has alleged that the LDF government is an utter failure in handling the Sabarimala issue.
The issue has become highly volatile and complicated the government failed to deal with, he told reporters here on Sunday.
He maintained that under no circumstances can the KPCC agree to the government suppressing devotees using the police.
"Instead of the chanting, Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa what we hear these days is the call to attack the devotees who wish to go to Sabarimala. They are in a quandary. The situation has come to a stage of dark days for Sabarimala. The government is doing everything to divide communities," he said.
He asked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to get rid of his stubbornness and take the path of initiating peace. He opined that a major section of the leaders in the CPM is upset with the development. He also said BJP president Amit Shah's recent visit was not accidental.
He said the LDF allies CPI and Janata Dal (S) had been conspicuous by their silence on Sabarimala.
