Taj Falaknuma to become a fortress for Ivanka Trump's visit

Ms Trump will be visiting the city for two days on November 28 and 29.

HYDERABAD: During their visit to Hyderabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump and White House adviser, will attend a dinner hosted at the Taj Falaknuma. Ms Trump will be visiting the city for two days on November 28 and 29 at the head of the US business delegation at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit. The dinner is being hosted on November 28, according to sources, and teams of the Intelligence Bureau, counterintelligence and Special Branch have fanned into the neighbourhood and slu-ms surrounding the hotel.

Owing to the distance between the GES venues, the officials had chosen Westin Hyderabad Mind-space at Madhapur for Ms Trump’s stay over Taj Falaknuma that was one of the venues considered for the purpose. Officials of the Telan-gana State Intelligence Security Wing visited the Taj Falaknuma along with a Secret Service team from the US. The Intelligence Bureau has alerted the city police to beef up security around the Falaknuma Palace and the routes leading to the hotel from Rajendranagar, Bandla-guda and Chandra-yangutta.

Around 500 policemen will be drafted for the bandobast including motorcycle-borne cops and patrol cars. The city police is drafting a security plan with the TS Special Police, Armed Reserve and Greyhounds being deplo-yed for the bandobast apart from the civil police. The Intelligence Security Wing will be coordinating with the Special Protection Group and the US Secret Service. A unit of the state anti-terror unit Octopus is also likely to be deployed at the Taj Falaknuma or a nearby place, sources said.

The hilly terrain around the Taj Falaknuma will be scanned by a police team days before the event and armed policemen will be posted around it. Though the visit will be restricted to a couple of hours, the police is taking no risk. The GHMC officials has started road-laying works and repairing the pavements on the road leading to the Taj Falaknuma while a team of non-government organisations along with the local police has picked up whitener addicts staying on the pavements and shifted to rehabilitation center.
