Hyderabad High Court: Plea seeks curbs on RMPs

A PIL has been moved before the Hyderabad High Court by the Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association.

Hyderabad: A PIL has been moved before the Hyderabad High Court by the Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association seeking to direct the state government to prevent registered medical practitioners (RMPs) and private medical practitioners (PMPs) from running clinics, first aid or any other centre. The association represented by its president Dr K. Mahesh Kumar moved the PIL stating that that the RMPs and PMPs have been playing with the lives of the people particularly the poor though they are not qualified in any Indian system of medicine.

He submitted that the public life and health is at stake due to inadequate number of community health centres (CHCs) and primary health centres (PHCs) and lack of qualified medical professionals at various levels of health care system. He told the court that instead of filling the existing vacancies the government has accorded permission to the State Para Medical Board to start a training programme for RMPs and PMPs and to issue them certificates. He alleged that RMPs and PMPs were illegally tagging ‘Doctor’ to their names. He urged that court to direct the authorities to prevent the RMPs and PMPs from discharging the functions of a doctor.

TS quizzed on teacher test:

The Hyderabad High Court asked the TS government why it had not recognised candidates who had completed their special BEd and DEd courses to teach deaf and mute students in the teachers recruitment test. Justice A Ramalinges-wara Rao was dealing with the petition Telangana Inclusive Education challenging the action of the government in not recognising candidates who possess BEd and DEd in special education for direct recruitment as teachers in government and local body schools.

The petitioner urged the court to direct the government to allow these candidates to apply for the posts of school assistants in general schools in addition to special schools. Justice Ramalinges-wara Rao directed the Registry to post the matter before the division bench as the petitioner had questioned the rules of the test.
