Bengaluru: A 30-year-old woman, who allegedly murdered her live-in partner and misled the police that he had died due to excessive drinking of alcohol, was arrested by the Konanakunte police after the post mortem report revealed that it was a murder.
The accused has been identified as Sunanda Bai, who worked as a caretaker in a school. The deceased is identified as Muthuraj, 26, who worked as conductor in a private bus.
According to the police, Sunanda’s husband had died a year ago and since then she was in a live-in relationship with Muthuraj at Ganapatipura.
On October 30, Muthuraj’s body was found on Ganapatipura 6th Main Road and his mother had filed a complaint in this regard. She had told the police that her son was in love with a woman in Ganapatipura and they lived together.
Based on that Sunanda was questioned, but she told the police that he might have died due to consumption of excessive alcohol. As Muthuraj’s mother also knew that he was a habitual drunkard, the police had taken up an unnatural death case.
“When the post mortem was conducted it was revealed that Muthuraj had died due to strangulation. A fresh case of murder was taken up and an investigation was launched. Based on the mobile call details record, CCTV footage and other evidences, Sunanda was picked up for questioning. When thoroughly grilled, she confessed to the murder,” the police said.
She revealed that Muthuraj was suspecting her fidelity and fought with her every day after coming home drunk. Frustrated over his behaviour, she strangulated him with a plastic rope at their house. Later in the night, she dragged his body in a bed sheet and put in on Ganapatipura 6th Main Road, to avoid suspicion, the police added. The police have taken her to custody and are further investigating.
