Mechanic repairs helicopter
New Delhi: Aviation regulator, DGCA, has grounded a helicopter pilot and launched a probe after it came to light that a car mechanic had allegedly rectified a technical snag in the helicopter which flew from Goa to Pune via Kolhapur in Maharashtra. The owner of the aviation firm which owns the helicopter was also apparently on board. The pilot is said to have denied that the car mechanic had rectified the snag.
The DGCA is also probing three incidents of deflating the nosewheel tyre of flights of a private carrier in the past 10 days. In another development, DGCA has asked private carrier Jet Airways for details on the number of flights cancelled on Wednesday after a large number of pilots of the airline reported sick. A significant number of Jet Airways pilots were apparently unhappy with a rostering system in the airline but the airline had later said the matter was sorted out and that flight operations had returned to normal.
