Chennai: CPI (M) state secretary G. Ramakrishnan on Friday wrote a letter to the DGP seeking protection to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visiting Kanyakumari to flag off a farmers rally to New Delhi on November 10 following a threatening letter from some Sangh Parivar group.

In a letter to DGP, Mr Ramakrishnan said that his party offices in Marthandam, Kulasekaram and Thakkalai in Kanyakumari received a threat letter from some Sangh Parivar groups connected to BJP and RSS threatening Mr Vijayan and his party cadres in the district. "The threat letter warned that the party offices be attacked and the party would be wiped out of the district and asked the CM not to clash with Sangh Parivar in Kerala," he said, noting that complaint were made to the concerned police stations in the district but no action was taken on it. "Hence we seek your intervention to arrest those who wrote the threatening letter and also provide protection to the Kerala chief minister's function," he demanded.
