Parents Allege School Withholding Hall Tickets over Fee Payment

A few schools have reportedly withhelding hall tickets of students until the full annual fee is paid

Hyderabad: As the Summative Assessment 1 exams get underway, a few schools have reportedly with helding hall tickets of students until the full annual fee is paid. Parents say that the sudden demand contradicts a government directive issued last month asking schools to choose between fee payment every month or ever term.

The controversy centres around MB Grammar School in Suraram, and CM Academy. According to source, a representative of MB Grammar School, the first term fee was collected in January, and second term fee was due in October. Parents asked why the first term fee was collected in January when the academic year commences in June.

A parent said, "It's extremely unfair for the school to demand the full year fee right before the exams. We are willing to pay, but the school should understand that many families may not have the financial means to do so."

The parent of another Class 5 student said, "The government's directive was meant to ease the financial burden on parents. By refusing to accept the 'three term fee payment' option, the school is creating more stress."

Source said that while hall tickets have not been issued to students who haven’t paid the full fee, the school is offering a solution "If a parent signs a letter promising they will pay the fee within a stipulated time, we are allowing them to proceed with the exams," she stated.
